A Cavan TD claims he had an "engaging" discussion with the Minister of State for Northern Ireland, Conor Burns.
Deputy Brendan Smith along with other Oireachtas members of the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly held an informal meeting with the MP at Leinster House yesterday.
According to Deputy Smith, items discussed during the meeting included British-Irish relations, the Northern Ireland Protocol and the Legacy and Reconciliation Bill.
As Co-Chair of the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly, Deputy Smith told Northern Sound that he "welcomes" the Minister's commitment to have future talks on the "challenges and opportunities to strengthen our bilateral relationship."
He added that the next plenary of the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly will be held on October 24th and 25th in Co Cavan.
