A Cavan taxi man says more action is needed in order to tackle issues within the industry.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show, Mick believes the word "horrendous" would be an under-statement when describing the treatment of taxi drivers, and the abuse they receive on a regular basis.
In relation to the shortage of taxi drivers, particularly in Cavan Town, Mick believes the current situation is largely down to the NRA, and the expense of obtaining a taxi licence and then keeping a vehicle on the road.
While the experienced taxi driver claims over-regulation is driving people out of the sector, he also believes a rise in verbal and physical abuse towards drivers is now a contributing factor.
