A Cavan taxi driver claims the lack of availability for people is "not their fault" and instead lies with the council.
Patrick Coyle from Bugsys Cabs in Cavan town says a lack of signage points telling people where they can get a taxi has kept people like himself from doing their job.
The local taxi driver added that more enforcement is needed to tackle private cars who are instead parking in the local taxi rank, therefore making it impossible for drivers to track down potential customers.
Mr Coyle says the current situation is "impacting revenue" as he spends most of his time driving in circles, due to a lack of parking which is costly on fuel and says it's a game of "pot luck" for people who are trying to get a taxi in the town.
He believes a 24 hour taxi rank located more central to Cavan town would alleviate concerns, as well as proper signage to let the people know they cannot park there.
