Local shops are selling vaping products to children as young as ten.
That's according to Cllr Carmel Brady who told a recent meeting of Cavan Joint Policing Committee that regulations will have to be introduced.
Senator Diarmuid Wilson then pointed out that legislation on the matter will be introduced by the end of the year.
He said the issue was complex because vaping technology is constantly evolving.
Gardai told the meeting there were similar difficulties when head shops emerged five years ago but once the legislation was introduced, most of them closed overnight.
