An application for planning permission has been lodged with Cavan County Council seeking permission to add an extension to a filling station in Cavan. The application to add a new entrance lobby, dry store and outdoor storage unit to the rear of the popular Kiernan's Service Station on the Dublin Road in Cavan and was lodged on Friday.
The applicants wish to construct a 13 sq. metre extension to the front of the property in the form of an entrance lobby. The plans also include 10 new car parking spaces, including 2 EV charging spaces, disabled spaces and a pedestrian walkway. In all, under the proposed plans, the retail floor area of the filling station shop will increase by almost 25 sq. metres.
To the rear, the business owners have requested permission to add a 40 sq. metre rear extension namely a dry store, with an ancillary outdoor storage compound of 25 sq. metres in the southeast corner of the existing yard enclosed by a 2 and a half metre high security fence. Retention is sought for the existing 50.9sq metre extension to the rear and one food offer 19.5sqm in area within the permitted retail unit. A decision is not expected until January next year.
