A family-run Cavan service station says they were long due a winner after it sold the winning €500,000 Euromillions ticket.

The ticket was purchased in the Barrack Street Service Station in Bailieborough and the National Lottery is urging players in Cavan to check their tickets.

The Daybreak / Texaco service station has been run by the Roe family in the town since 2008.

Paula Roe, manager of Baileborough Service Station, said she was thrilled as it's the first major National Lottery winner they've had since starting the business in 2008.

The winning numbers in last night's Plus draw were 3, 26, 32, 34 and 35.

Robert Magee, a spokesperson for the National Lottery, has this advice for the winning ticket holder:
