A meeting between the Minister for Transport and Cavan County Council has been described as "positive".
A delegation from the local authority met with Minister Eamon Ryan on Friday to discuss the need for increased funding for roads in the county.
There are calls for an increase in funding for many counties in the region as many are struggling to maintain their road networks with little money available for any major resurfacing or upgrade projects.
Local TD Niamh Smyth organised the meeting with Minister Ryan.
She described the meeting as "positive" but no commitments were given on funding for the county for next year:
