A Co Cavan residential service was found to be not compliant in the area of "admissions and contract for the provision of services" during an unannounced HIQA inspection.
Deerpark Lodge provides residential services for adults with intellectual disabilities, people on the autistic spectrum, and persons with acquired brain injuries.
The centre was also deemed to be "substantially compliant" regarding staffing, but was fully compliant in all other areas.
During the unannounced inspection on the 11 of November, residents were said to be content and the provider ensured supports and resources were in place to meet their needs.
However, issues were identified with the process of admissions to the centre and the staffing arrangements.
The inspector said the process of admissions required review.
Over the last few months, a resident transitioned from the house as it was not suitable in meeting their assessed needs.
At the time of this inspection, another resident was also under review for a transition to a different part of the service, as the environment was not adequately suited to meet their needs.
This resident was sensitive to noise and required a low stimulus and quiet environment, but the centre could be loud and noisy at times.
A number of safeguarding plans and risk assessments also had to be put in place to ensure patient safety due to compatibility issues and negative interactions between some residents,.
And while there was adequate staff working on the day of this inspection, it was deemed that the staffing arrangements required review because some social outings had to be postponed or cancelled due to staff shortages.
The centre was compliant in all other areas.
Deerpark Lodge says it will assess any potential impact of the new referrals and there will be a "comprehensive review" of the resident's needs to ensure a successful transition
The service has also undertaken a full review of the staffing arrangements.
This review found that while the staffing resources were consistent with the Statement of Purpose, the deployment of those staff required improvement.
The person in charge at the centre will now ensure that staffing arrangements are "utilised effectively" at all times.
