Joan's Animal Rescue Centre in Cavan is hoping to relocate animals from a shelter in war-torn Ukraine.
A GoFundMe campaign which was set up by a Ukrainian national from Kyiv to raise funds and help relocate animals and carers to Ireland caught the attention of local woman Joan Emin.
As a result, Joan has now teamed up with 'Victoria Sia', an animal shelter in Ukraine to relocate 7 dogs and 35 cats, as well as their dedicated carer Alex to Cavan.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Joan said she understands the day-to-day challenges of running a shelter, and can't imagine how difficult it would be to so while living in a warzone.
