With many across the Northern Sound region experiencing cold and flu, it has been revealed that Co Cavan recorded one of the highest rates of Covid-19 over the festive period. Flu is set to peak this week or next but it will remain a risk well into this month and February. The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HSPC) confirmed that the variant, which is more contagious, has pushed its way to a stronger position across the country.
According to the Irish Independent, other counties aside from Cavan which recorded some of the highest rates of the JN.1 Covid variant included, Donegal, Offaly, Sligo, Leitrim and Westmeath. Some of the symptoms reported by people who caught the new variant include a runny nose, cough, headache, fatigue but also difficulty sleeping Co Cavan was also among the counties worst affected by RSV outbreaks, alongside Donegal, Westmeath, Sligo, Mayo, Leitrim, and Kerry.
