A Cavan priest says a Roscommon couple who received fines for attending his Mass over lockdown have been "discriminated against".
Father PJ Hughes also expressed "disappointment" that James (66) and Ann Ryan (60) "were dragged through the courts" for travelling to Palm Sunday Mass on the 28th of March, 2021.
Last week, Cavan District Court fined James and Ann Ryan €300 each for breaching the then-covid laws which restricted non-essential travel to a five kilometre limit.
However, Father PJ Hughes told Northern Sound said the "faith was abandoned" and shouldn't have been deemed "non-essential":
