A lucky Cavan lottery player has struck it rich after winning €500,000 in Friday's Euro Millions Plus draw.
The National Lottery is asking players in Cootehill to check their tickets after Friday night's bumper win.
The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold on the day of the draw at the popular McMullan's Daybreak service station on Bridge Street in the town.
The numbers drawn in Friday night's Euro Millions Plus were 07, 08, 26, 27, and 37. There was one winner of the jackpot worth over €68m and the winning ticket was sold in Switzerland.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the National Lottery said that nearly 30c in every €1 spent on all games goes back into the 'Good Causes' initiative which supports sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language.
"In total more than €6bn has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 35 years ago. In 2021 alone, €304m was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland," he added.
