As Cavan Pétanque club bids to host the 2026 Celtic Cup competition, the sports club wants hotels and other accommodation providers to get in touch with offers.
The Celtic Cup, which has been running for over 30 years now, sees players from Ireland, Scotland and Wales compete for the title.
Since the Cavan club was started during lockdowns, the facilities and membership at Belturbet have expanded so that today, they are in a position to host an international competition like the Celtic Cup.
By the end of the month, the committee of the Irish Pétanque Association will decide whether to grant Cavan or Cork City the privilege of hosting next
year's competition.
If successful, 32 competitors and their parties will travel to and stay in Cavan for three days over the May bank holiday 2026.
Billy Gleadell is Chairman of the Belturbet club and also President of the Irish Pétanque Association.
He is asking Cavan accommodation providers to get in touch with him if they can offer attractive packages for the travelling pétanque players.
