A Co Cavan pet sanctuary says a “generous” grant of €6,000 from the Department of Agriculture will allow it to remain open after its “worst year”.
Kitten Cottage Animal Sanctuary in Virginia was unable to fundraise last year due to covid restrictions and added that it “wouldn’t be able to survive” without the grant.
Marie Egan says the shortfall in fundraising resulted in a lack of neutering in the area and warned that the problem of stray cats has “gotten out of control” as a result.
Marie says this is the fifth time the Cavan pet sanctuary has received a grant from the Department of Agriculture, and speaking to Northern Sound, she explained what the money will go towards:
