Aaron Forde has resigned from a state board after controversy over tweets he posted.
The Cavan native was announced as the new Chair of the Shannon Group yesterday, before that offer was withdrawn after the tweets came to light.
Among the tweets were derogatory comments about members of the Travelling community and social welfare recipients.
Agriculture Minister Charlie McConologue today confirmed Mr Forde had resigned from the board of state agency Bord Iascaigh Mhara but he remains on the boards of a number of other organisation.
He was previously CEO of dairy company Aurivo before he stepped down in 2019.
