A Cavan native has received a top award in a specialist legal course at Maynooth University.
Cavan student Alanna Kells won the Legal Writing Award for her written work on the Funds Law course.
The course is delivered by top international law firm Matheson in partnership with Maynooth University.
The course is coordinated and delivered by Brónagh Maher, who is a visiting lecturer in law at Maynooth University and Head of Matheson’s Asset Management Knowledge Team.
Alanna's classmate, Jordan Donoghue from Longford, has also been awarded a six month internship in Matheson's Asset Management and Investment Funds Department based on her results and a competitive interview process.
A special event was held in recent days to honour Alanna and Jordan's achievements.
This year, Matheson celebrates the 10th anniversary of its partnership with Maynooth University School of Law and Criminology in delivering the first specialised funds law course to be taught at an Irish university.
Speaking at a special event at Matheson's offices at Sir John Rogerson's Quay, Dublin, to honour Alanna and Jordan, Alanna said:
"I am delighted to have had the opportunity to study the Funds Law module as part of my LLM
degree in Maynooth University. This module has been immensely valuable in providing me with a comprehensive understanding of funds law, particularly in the context of Ireland's financial landscape.
The knowledge and insights gained have greatly enhanced my academic journey and equipped me with practical skills that I believe will be invaluable in my future career.
The module also provided me with the opportunity to learn from experts in the field at Matheson. I wholeheartedly recommend this module to anyone interested in learning about Funds Law and navigating the dynamic field of finance in Ireland"
