A Cavan musician says any financial supports for people in the industry must stay in place and not see reductions.
Brendan Jermyn says that there is no work out there for people in that sector now and they predict it could be as late as 2022 before the return of gigs and social dancing, a major source of their income.
While complimenting the Government for supporting the self employed through the PUP, he said the 50 million allocations to the industry in the budget is unlikely to filter down to him or other musicians.
His fear was that money will go to venues and promotions, while those further down the chain will struggle with no work prospects in the near future.
