A Cavan mother has launched a fundraiser to purchase a Wheelchair Accessible Van that suits the needs of her daughter.
10-year-old Amelie McCormack, from Cootehill, suffers from a rare medical condition called "Rett Syndrome" which affects around one in 12-thousand girls.
Her condition has worsened in recent months, and she has been unable to walk following spinal fusion surgery in January of this year.
Her mother, Pamela, says the family's current vehicle isn't suited to Amelie's new wheelchair and they have struggled to finance a suitable alternative.
Pamela has set up a gofundme page to help secure a loan on a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle.
While she was initially reluctant to do this, Pamela told Shannonside Northern Sound that she has since been taken aback by the community's generosity:
