A youth worker based in Cavan-Monaghan is working with colleagues in Youth Work Ireland to make a submission to the Government seeking €9.4m in this year’s budget.
Director of Youth Work Ireland Cavan-Monaghan Caolán Faux said the extra money is needed to “continue the work youth organisations do” and in “delivering frontline services.”
Mr Faux said when compared to inflation rates, the 4% increase in funding provided to the youth work sector in last year’s budget, was “actually a decrease”. With the cost to run services increasing and the cost of living crisis being felt by every household, Caolán Faux said more money is needed to maintain “amazing frontline services” and “recruit and remain staff.”
