A Cavan Monaghan TD says we "can't afford" to sit back any longer in relation to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show earlier today, Deputy Niamh Smyth believes society must take a "pro-active approach" to climate action.
Ireland has a number of climate targets in place all centred around the requirement to slash greenhouse gas emissions by 51% by 2030 and reach net zero emissions by 2050.
The local representative added that the agriculture sector "will play its part" and that farmers understand that emissions need to be reduced, after a recent meeting with the IFA.
