Two Cavan - Monaghan representatives have been nominated for the labour panel in the Seanad. Senator Robbie Gallagher based in County Monaghan and Cavan-based Senator Joe O'Reilly are on a list of 10 candidates for the vocational panel.
Vocational panels are responsible for the election of 43 out of 60 Senators. There are five panels including cultural and educational; agricultural, industrial and commercial, the administrative panel and labour.
Candidates to the panels may be nominated either by four members of the Oireachtas or by a nominating body. They are required to have a certain level of knowledge and experience related to their panel.
