Funding towards the enhancement of outdoor swimming facilities in Cavan and Monaghan has been announced. The locations locally that are set to benefit are Arva, Lough Gowna, Killeshandra, Barnagrow, Virginia and Emy Lough.
€30,000 has been approved for the projects at Killeshandra, Arva, Barnagrow and Virginia; €28,000 at Lough Gowna and €15,000 at Emy Lough. The successful projects provide for enhancement works including changing/showering facilities and accessibility mats.
The initiative which was developed in line with the Healthy Ireland objective of enabling more people to be more active is funded by the Department of Health and administered by Sport Ireland. Cavan-Monaghan TD, Brendan Smith, said the work of these outdoor swimming groups is to be commended in providing this important sporting opportunity for local communities."
