The National Lottery has announced seven county finalists from Cavan and Monaghan to go forward to this year's Good Causes Awards. The local groups nominated for doing exemplary work in their communities will now compete for a place in the national finals judging phase next month,
In Monaghan, the county finalists include Castleblayney Trust for the Homeless, The Down Syndrome Centre North East and Rockcorry Divers and North Coast Search and Recovery. Castlerahan Community Development CLG , Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, The Cavan Centre CLG and Kingscourt Harps AFC are all vying for a financial prize of €10,000 if successful at a ceremony next month.
The total prize fund available in the Good Causes Awards is €100,000, whereby each of the seven category winners will receive €10,000 and the overall Good Cause of the Year will take home an additional €25,000.
