A Cavan/Monaghan GRA representative says current recruitment targets are "concerning."
Speaking ahead of the GRA conference which is taking place in Westport today, James Morrisroe claimed that Government has only reached a quarter of recruitment targets for this year.
The local policing rep explained that around 400 Garda members will retire from the force this year, as well as the added 100 per year who are resigning for other unknown reasons.
As a result, Mr Morrisroe claims there is a complete "lack of resources" and appropriate training within the force.
He says those attending Garda college should be brought up to a certain level of training, however believes this has not been the case, especially in relation to driver training.
