The police urgently need a pro-active programme to address wellness with dedicated funding as well as improved supports including timely debriefing and mandatory counselling after traumatic events.
These were the sentiments expressed by James Morrisroe, GRA representative for the Cavan/Monaghan district during this week’s delegate conference which took place in Kerry.
Garda Morrisroe added that a recent assessment of An Garda Siochana is "fairly damning" of how it treats its employees.

He says it comes as no surprise to him as there are Gardai living their lives as the "walking wounded":
