The Garda Representative Association has announced a new Deputy General Secretary.
James Morrisroe from the Cavan/Monaghan Division has been appointed to the new national role within the organisation. The appointment takes immediate effect and will go forward to delegates at the next ADC for final ratification.
The Garda Representative Association, established in 1978, is an association comprising members of the Garda Síochána holding Garda Rank. It operates under the provisions outlined in the Garda Síochána Act of 2005. which is specifically formed to control or influence matters related to the pay, pensions, and conditions of employment within the police force.
The GRA say this is a high-profile national role and will help lead the Garda body into the next stage of its development. James Morrisroe who is attached to the Cavan/Monaghan Garda Division has been very critical of the new Garda Division model that includes Louth. Highlighting in the past that the amalgamation of the Cavan/Monaghan Garda Division with the Louth Division would affect the region in a negative way when it comes to policing.
