A Cavan man has told the Oireachtas that people with disabilities need a legal right to a personal assistant.
Crosserlough's Damien O'Reilly was born with Cerebal Palsy and has been a long term activist highlighting the services people with disabilities need for independent living.
In 2020, Cavan County Council supported his call for Government to provide additional funding for the Personal Assistant Service.
Earlier this week, he joined the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Disability Matters to discuss aligning disability services with the UN-CRPD.
Speaking to TDs and Senators through his personal assistant Sarah, Damien said there's a need to legislate for PAs.
