A Cavan man who was named a runner up in an astrophotography award says it took a month to capture his image.
Aaron Kelly from Ballyjamesduff entered a photo titled "The Heart Nebula" in the 'Reach for the Stars' competition.
He entered the 'Out of this World' category which is for subjects not visible to the naked eye.
Aaron only took up astrophotography as a hobby during lockdown and said he was honoured to have his name alongside the best in the business.
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, he explained how his photo was created.
"It took about a month of collecting data for the image and then probably about a week of processing them. You have to take all of the images that you've collected over time, stack them and then you put them through very specific processing techniques to pull the image out.."
