Breffni Integrated CLG t/a Cavan County Local Development has been appointed to deliver the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) 2024-2028.
The SICAP provides funding to tackle poverty and social exclusion through local engagement and partnerships between disadvantaged individuals, community organisations and public sector agencies. It is a multi-faceted programme, which provides supports to respond to individual and community needs, using a community development approach to improve people’s lives.
SICAP is targeted for those who are most disadvantaged and less likely to use mainstream services. Administered by Pobal, SICAP is co-funded by the Government, through the Department of Rural and Community Development, and the European Social Fund Plus.
Welcoming the announcement, Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr Philip Brady said, “The SICAP Programme is hugely important in tackling poverty and exclusion among the most vulnerable in our communities. I welcome the appointment of Cavan County Local Development, a hugely capable organisation with tremendous local knowledge and committed, dedicated staff, to deliver this major programme over the next four years”.
