"It's very important to have support for Palestine not just here in Co Cavan but right across the world." That's according to Saoirse Ni Bhaoigheallain who is the Chairperson of Cavan IPSC.
The Co Cavan branch was set up last summer in a bid show support towards the people of Palestine as a response to the ongoing war. Cavan IPSC recently held a solidarity protest outside Cavan Court House. The protest coincided with a motion that was passed on the same day at October's sitting of Cavan County Council calling on the Irish Government to enact the Occupied Territories Bill, to cut Irish trade ties with Israeli goods and services produced in these illegal settlements. Speaking to Northern Sound, Saoirse praised the efforts made by Cavan County Council and said it was "our duty" as humanity to help the people of Palestine. "I think it's very important to have support for Palestine all over the world," explained Saoirse. "It is a global effort to call this out and continue to do anything that we can. It is the most important thing that we can be doing to stop this genocide, it is our duty as humanity."
