The Cavan Geopark and Sliabh Beagh could be off-shoots of a planned Sligo to Belfast greenway project.
The CEO of ICBAN told Oireachtas members that they are in the early stages of planning for a single walk and cycle way that would span the entire border region.
The cross-border political forum is looking to develop a masterplan that would identify how existing routes could be connected and local tourism spots could be made more accessible.
Andy Hallewell says this would benefit both the tourism industry and the local economy.
He said Cavan and Monaghan have some unique landscapes that they want to connect to the "main artery" greenway.
