The Emergency Department at Cavan General Hospital is currently 'exceptionally busy'.
In a statement issued to Northern Sound this afternoon on behalf of the HSE, anyone attending the Emergency Department with a non-urgent condition will experience very long wait times.
This latest statement follows a series of warnings issued in relation to the local hospital in recent days.
The situation has been described as a "frequent occurrence" which the HSE has apologised for.
According to the HSE, staff are working very hard to treat and care for those who are particularly ill.
In a bid to free up beds, patients and families are asked to work with the hospital at the point of discharge and accept placements that may be immediately available.
Locals are only asked to attend the Emergency Department if your condition is urgent and needs immediate attention.
