The Emergency Department at Cavan General Hospital is experiencing high volumes of patients and is in escalation this afternoon.
Hospital management have asked those with non-serious illness to avoid the facility and to instead contact their GP or pharmacy for assistance. The hospital says that despite the difficulties, it is still providing full emergency care if it is required.
It comes as the latest trolley watch figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) reported 12 patients are on trolleys in the ED at Cavan General Hospital this morning.
Following that, hospital management issued a statement this afternoon to Northern Sound News saying our Emergency Department is experiencing high volumes of patients and we would appreciate your support in using alternative pathways.
