Cavan Roads Policing Unit were out and about in recent days making several driving detections across the county.
They stopped two motorists in Cavan Town and Virginia town both failing a roadside drugs test and testing positive for both cannabis and cocaine. Both drivers were arrested and blood samples were taken.
The detection’s continued when a driver was stopped while driving under the influence of alcohol and tests at Cavan Garda Station on arrest showed this driver over the legal limit. He was subsequently charged to appear in Court.
Meanwhile a motorist was detected driving while disqualified and who also had a bench warrant in existence for his arrest.
The vehicle in question was detained and the driver appeared before the District Court on the same day.
Local Gardai are using this detection to warn motorists to always follow the rules of the roads.
