Cavan County Board told Northern Sound they do not wish to comment on its sponsorship deal with local business Kingspan.
Kingspan are well-known for its sponsorship of Ulster Rugby and the Cavan Senior Men's team and the home of Cavan GAA, the Kingspan Breffni grounds in Cavan Town. At the end of last year, Ulster Rugby announced Kingspan would let their contract with the team come to a "natural end" as planned at the close of the 2023/24 season but agreed to stay on for a 12-month extended period to allow Ulster Rugby to find a new sponsor.
Today, a report on the inquiry into the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire was critical of some of the practices used in the UK branch of Kingspan. In a statement, Kingspan said the company "has long acknowledged the wholly unacceptable historical failings that occurred in part of our UK insulation business. These were in no way reflective of how we conduct ourselves as a Group, then or now."
When Northern Sound contacted Cavan County Board today regarding their sponsorship deal with the local company, a spokesperson said the board would make "no comment".
