A recent study shows honouring a loved one who has died is hugely important, with 75 per cent of those feeling there is pressure to provide a decent funeral.
According to Colm Kieran who is a funeral director in Kingscourt, it is not the pressure of who pays for the funeral, but instead the pressure of not knowing what a loved-one wants.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Colm outlined the importance of pre-planning so that loved ones are informed as to how you would like your wishes carried out.
He said in the absence of pre-planning there is added pressure that people must give their loved ones the best and that is because there is absent guidance from the person who has passed away.
“There is a lack of transparency about the price of a funeral. When it comes to choosing a funeral director it’s important for people to know they are getting a consistent standard," he said.
