A Cavan farmer has just been elected Chair of the IFA National Pigs and Pig meat Committee. Michael Caffrey farms in Mountnugent with his sons Ronan and Ciaran. An IFA statement says Mr Caffrey brings a "wealth of experience and deep knowledge of pig farming" to the role.
He will formally take over the position from Roy Gallie at the IFA's AGM next week. Michael said he looks forward to fighting for the needs of pig farmers over intense regulation on environmental standards; trade policies and animal welfare.
