Local Fianna Fáil TD Deputy Niamh Smyth has called for urgent additional capacity on the Cavan/Dublin bus route.
The Cavan-Monaghan TD said the 109X Cavan-Dublin service, operated by Bus Éireann, lacks the capacity to meet demand, particular during peak times.
Deputy Smyth said it's not acceptable that people are left standing at bus stops for ages and ages and in some cases commuters bound for Co Cavan are left behind at bus stops on the north and west side of Dublin city. The local TD raised the issue recently with the Tánaiste and the Minister for Transport adding that she is inundated with complaints for commuters over the 109 bus route.
Deputy Smyth says she has written to Bus Éireann over what she has described as not good enough that people cant rely on the service when they need it and she was very worried by the high volume of complaints that in some situations the bus wasn't even turning up.
