The Cavan County Museum in Ballyjamesduff has announced plans to develop Ireland's first National Storytelling Centre.
The Part VIII planning notice, published yesterday by Cavan County Council, also proposes to build a new sheltered walkway link, new carpark, connections to existing services and all ancillary works, in addition to the single story standalone centre.
All assessment reports of the project can be found at the Museum or the Council Offices until the 21st of August, with any submissions or observations on the development due before 4pm on 4th of September.
This would be the only centre of its kind in the country and would include indoor and outdoor performance and workshop space, as well as an archive room, and recording studio
Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound Savina Donohoe Curator of the Museum said Cavan is the ideal location for the centre and would be a major boost for local tourism:
