Members of Cavan County Council are set to meet with Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan to seek extra funding for roads in the county.
Cathaoirleach, Cllr Clifford Kelly said - during this week's monthly meeting - there was a need to try and get the message across to the minister that the county needed extra funding for its roads because of the very bad state of repair that many routes were in.
Having said that, he added, there was also 'great roads with works carried out to a very high standard'.
Meanwhile, Cllr Sarah O'Reilly pointed out that just 11 of the 22 roads earmarked for the roads programme in the Bailieborough/Cootehill Municipal District were accepted and just 3 million euro in funding allocated.
She said the minister for transport and the Government weren't taking the matter seriously enough and she pointed to the 'deterioration' of roads in her municipal district.
Cllr Shane P O'Reilly said the Ballyjamesduff Municipal District had already sent a letter to the Minister for Transport about roads funding.
He highlighted how the minister needs to hear council members 'loud and clear' on their roads funding issues.
