Cavan County Council is seeking submissions and observations on the proposed
widening of Derrylea Bridge in Ballyjamesduff.
Derrylea Bridge is a two-span masonry arch structure, which carries the R194
over the Claddagh River.
The Local Authority describe the bridge as being "on a dangerous bend on the R194 road".
The proposed development would include the realignment of the R194 on the
approaches to the bridge and the widening of the bridge on both sides using
reinforced concrete arches.
This would be done in a way that matches the existing profile and masonry of
the bridge.
There will also be some minor repairs to the bridge.
The carriageway of the realigned section of the regional road will be 6.5m
wide, and a 2.5m wide footpath will be provided on the north side of the
road.
Drawings and particulars of the proposed development are available to
download on the County Council website and can be viewed in person at The
Johnston Library in Cavan Town at the Ballyjamesduff Municipal District
Office, on Main Street in Virginia.
These will be available to view in person until Thursday, December 9th,
between the hours of 9am and 1 pm, and from 2pm to 5pm.
Submissions or observations must be made in writing, or email to
[email protected], on or before 4pm on Thursday, December 23rd.
