Cavan County Council has confirmed to Northern Sound news that it received Department funding of €649,652 for energy retrofit programmes in 2022.
It comes on the back of comments made by Minister Eamon Ryan this week that some local authorities were not carrying out the works on time nor were they spending allocated funds.
Meanwhile, Cavan Co Council said it is currently progressing deep energy retrofits and upgrade works to ten vacant social housing units across its stock.
The units, located in Cavan town, are being renovated by local firms Green Fern Developments, Stradone and Michael B Hyland, Carrickaboy.
A spokesperson added that a contract for the retrofit of a further ten social houses in Cavan town was recently awarded to Finnegan O'Neill, Castleblaney.
The local authority is anticipating that the retrofit of all twenty units will be completed in 2022, at a total value of approximately €760,000.
