More than €2m in compensation claims have been paid out by Cavan County Council since the end of 2020, new figures revealed by the Irish Independent shows.
The figures, obtained by Indepenent.ie under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act, also reveal how the local authority presently has €2.5m in active claims sitting on its books.
Currently 116 cases are being assessed by the local authority as “active claims”, totalling €2.51m in value according to the paper. To date this year almost 100 claims have accounted for an overall recompense of just over €570,000 as a result of compensation claims.
