Cavan County Council could be facing a shortfall of up to 8.5 million euro in its rates income this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Council Chief Executive Tommy Ryan told the local authority's monthly meeting yesterday that it's operating in "a very uncertain environment".
He said the Council was trying to cut costs, without impacting on services in a bid to save money.
However, Tommy Ryan said the Council could have to cut services if it does not receive support funding from the Government.
He said the 8.5 million figure was a worst case scenario but it remains to be seen what impact the pandemic will have on the economy and people's spending habits.
