Cavan County Council has called for more supports to be put in place to help family carers.
It's estimated that family carers save the State €20 billion a year and Sinn Féin's Paddy McDonald says the "incredible work they do can't be ignored".
Councillor McDonald also called for family carers to be prioritised for the covid-19 vaccine because of their close proximity to elderly and vulnerable persons.
