Cavan County Council has appointed a town Regeneration Officer for Bailieborough. Caroline Brady will be tasked with devising a regeneration plan for the town which will be the first Town Centre First plan in Co Cavan.
This new initiative is part of an overall vision for the town where a new €20m Garda Station is currently under construction. Deputy Niamh Smyth says the area has huge potential and it's the right time to renews the town's fortunes.
She added that Bailieborough is about to become a much desired location to visit, work in, and live in. "I feel very passionate for the business people in particular who have sustained difficult times and a difficult decade on our main street in Bailieborough.
"They have been loyal rate payers, loyal employers, and loyal business people providing a service to the community of Bailieborough. This time it's payback - if you like - in that the Council is going to put a particular focus with the regeneration officer on how the main street can become nice again, and how it can continue to be a place to do business in," said Deputy Smyth.
