Cavan County Council is to appoint an Irish Language Officer.
The role will be a part-time position, within the county's library service.
The news was confirmed at the most recent Council meeting after years of
calls for the post to be established.
The Officer will have a wide ranging role in promoting the language
throughout the county, organising events and as well as overseeing the
Council work through Irish.
West Cavan Councillor John Paul Feeley has called for and Irish Language
Officer to be hired in Cavan for years.
He hopes whoever fills the post will build upon the work already being done
by the library service in Cavan:
