Developing rural communities and bringing business back to town centres is what Cavan councillors are calling for in the County Development Plan.
This new plan, which will run from 2022 to 2028, will be created based on the 84 submissions received through consultation, feedback from councillors and further consultation following a draft report to be published in the New Year.
At the December meeting of Cavan County Council, councillors highlighted the development of vacant areas over shops, the revitalisation of rural communities, and proper zoning for economic growth, as key points to be included in the plan.
Fianna Fáil's John Paul Feeley also emphasised the need for buildings to be development with long term sustainable uses in mind and for homes to be appropriate for Cavan and not text book projects:
