Councillors in Cavan have called for progress in tackling low beef prices in Ireland.
The issue was discussed this week, with Aontú's Sarah O'Reilly calling for a Beef Regulator to be set up.
Councillors were unanimous in calling for action on the issue but Fianna Fáil's Aiden FitzPatrick said a Food Ombudsman role, which would encompass all aspects of food production, would be more suitable.
He said many farmers, not just beef farmers, are impacted by low prices and this should also be addressed.
Councillor FitzPatrick says everyone is in agreement that something must be done:
And you can hear more on beef prices on Agriview from 8pm tonight.
