A Cavan councillor says more needs to be done to make local politics a viable career for young people.
The Electoral Reform Bill was published this week, and will see the introduction of an independent Electoral Commission.
It's expected that this commission will help address Ireland's democratic deficit in local government and tackle inequality in politics.
Carmel Brady is the Chair of the Midlands, Northern and Western Women's Regional Caucus Group, and one of four female elected representatives in Cavan County Council.
She says it has become a job where you're always on-call.
